Sue Metzler
Now retired and occupied with grandkids and an occasional consulting task, Sue has been in the Pacific Northwest fundraising community for over 25 years. In the role of Director of Development and Marketing, Sue worked with the Executive Director, the Board of Directors, senior staff, donors, and community leaders to define and implement a plan to move the Oregon Historical Society from a position of vulnerability and irrelevancy to a position of financial stability and program excellence. Together, they raised $12.7 million to implement this plan. Previously, Sue spent over a decade with the Providence Health System, with the final title of Director of Community Affairs. At Providence, she learned all aspects of fundraising from annual fund to grant writing, to special events, and individual gifts. She was also instrumental in developing planned giving strategies and capital campaigns for both the World Forestry Center and the Oregon Historical Society.
